We rang the New Year at home and in bed early:( Ken was sick and we stayed in.
Calvin turned 9 on the 18th of this month. He is getting so big. As is out tradition we took him out to a restaurant of his choice without his siblings, not surprisingly he choose Piecasso. The next day mom flew to the Bahamas..more on that below. Saturday morning Ken took Calvin, Drew and two of Drew's buddies to Jay Peaks Pump House for the day. From what I was told a great time was had by all. Ken then took everyone to Piecasso (yes, again) and then home. Happy Birthday to my first born. xxoo
Sometime this month Calvin got moved up to Level 6 in the Mountain Adventure program at Stowe. Calvin is turning into quite the skier. I took him down Nosedive (his first black) and now he has down many of them and is eager to tackle Goat this year. Not so sure I am ready for Goat but I will go with him, can't send him alone:) Wish me luck.
January 19th I flew to the Bahamas with five girlfriends. It was a crazy fun trip. I ran (walked more) the Bahamas 1/2 marathon. The other girls did it too. One ran the full marathon and came in 2nd, another placed 1st for her age bracket and was 5th overall in the half. I finished. We flew home on the 23rd to -18 degree temperatures. Very cold trip to the parking garage.
Lauren had her first day of skiing in Stowe 3 Ski Adventure program on 12-27. She has since been up once more and is scheduled to go this Saturday. She has graduated to raccoon and is going on the lift. It is a TON of fun to ski with her, although I look forward to her getting the pizza wedge down a little better. Not always fun watching her heading straight with full faith I'll ski up behind her and scoop her up, which she loves!
My friends Cybelle hosted a joint book club party on 2/2. It was a Passion Party and incredibly fun.
Calvin lost his first molar and a few days later lost two at once (incisors I think). I am pretty sure he is now at 11 teeth lost.
Soon I hope to get a bit of a lengthy post on each child.

2012 Holidays
I don't know how people manage to keep these up to date. Obviously lots to catch up on. I'm going to attempt to get things some what in order..
Ken has joined a Thursday night basketball league. He is really enjoying it and the going out afterwards:)
November was a busy month. After the Stachlers left, Cecilie and Caroline came for a quick trip. They flew in and out Friday and Sunday. Ken was a trooper and watched the kids so Cecilie and I could go out for a ladies gathering. It was Denise's birthday and we had a fun time with the girls, thanks to Cybelle for hosting.
Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year. We had the Deweys and mom over. Food was delish and a good time was had by all, maybe a new tradition! This is the first holiday season without Dad being present. Not easy as I often think of him.
We had out annual Christmas party the 1st of December. It was early this year but we always have it on the 1st Saturday of December so it was out of our hands. 99 people again this year and a great time had by all. It was really a great kick off to the holiday season. There was an energy in the house that was impossible to miss, everyone was ready to play. The last quests left at 2:00. Ken was my hero and got up and took Calvin to the Mountain first thing Sunday morning.
Our weekends were then booked for the rest of the holiday season with lots of annual parties we have been to before and a couple of first time parties.
Ken's mom and step-dad came for Christmas! Mary and I managed to keep it a surprise. It was somewhat of a last minute decision on their part. They headed south to Florida after leaving us. Ken found out when they were an hour out (he read a text). But it was just as well as he was getting ready to head out for Basketball. The kids were very surprised. It was nice to have a full house for Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning. Mom came for Christmas Eve and spend the night too.
Sometime this fall we took the Movie Theater apart and it is now more of a rec room and getting much more use. We put a Futon down there so it can also act as a second guestroom.
Sometime in December (I think). My youngest cousin in Norway, Christoffer got engaged!!!!!!! A 2014 wedding is in the works. A trip to Norway is near!

Fall 2012
Highlights of the fall were a visit from the Stachlers, Soccer, one more job for mom and the annual Burton party.
Lets see Soccer would be first. Both boys did a fall soccer league this Fall. Calvin was in the 3rd/4th grade league and Drew was in the 1st/2nd grade league. Naturally the practices and games are on different days and in different locations. Both boys really liked the leagues and seemed to have a great time. Drew likes to wind up and kick the ball as hard as he can. Calvin was in the big leagues which was stressful for mom. They play on a much bigger field, have some REALLY good players, more competition, and even night games under the lights. Calvin was more focused while playing then in years past but is still working on keeping his head 100% in the game.
The Annual Burton party is something the boys remember year to year and really look forward to. This year was more fun for mom and dad as both boys could go off by themselves and Lauren was able to go with the Nannys. Also mom didn't have the Leaf Peepers 1/2 marathon the next day. It was a cool, rainy day but a fun day and an end of the summer ritual. I will add that keep prepping Calvin for the time the invites stop coming.
Mom signed up for a six week boot camp Monday morning in Waterbury. Lots of fun, very hard and great ladies.
Ken ran the Leaf Peepers 5K this year. The same day we had a friend from Colorado come through for a quick visit. It was great to see Melissa again and her daughter.
Mom also picked up one more and the last new bookkeeping client. I'm doing the books for a retail craft store in Stowe. This one client is 12 hours a week so Lauren is a 5 day a week pre-schooler, good thing she loves school.
Ken's sister, Kim and family drove from Ohio in early November. It has been four years since they last visited and everyone was very happy to have them. The cousins had a great time playing together.

Ohio, Suburban, School Starting
On September 6th Lauren and I flew to Ohio for the weekend! My cousin Jannickee and her husband and Daughter were visiting Cecile and family from Norway. Lauren did great flying although the car seat would have been nice, confined children are a good thing:) We had an absolutely wonderful weekend. Lauren loved being with her cousins (my cousins children, but I think I'm going to start saying cousins, too long the other way). Madeleine was 10 months and Lauren loved the baby and couldn't get enough of her and kept saying the baby is so cute, the baby loves me, the baby needs me. She had a great time with Caroline and Daniel and playing with all of Caroline's toys and enjoying time with just mom. We got in a little shopping at Target. It was a short trip. Ken's mom and her friend Nancy picked us up and took us to the airport Sunday. I love having my Norway family so close!!!!!!!!
Ken and the boys had a good weekend at home. Ken took them to the Pump House at Jay Peak, it was their first time there and they had been WAITING to go.
We said goodbye to the Yukon in August and hello to the Suburban. We had always felt the Yukon was a bit of a lemon, lots of little and a few big problems. Long story short it needed a lot of work to get to a 100%. We feel very fortunate to have been able to trade it in for more then what we owe. We upgraded to a 09 Suburban LTZ. Basically the same as the Yukon but a few more bells and whistles, I think its a little over the top. But there aren't a lot of used Yukon and Suburbans in this area to choose from.
School is back!!!!!!! Yay, the boys started 3rd and 1st grade and so far so good! Drew gets lots of compliments from his teacher in regards to his positive attitude. I'll update more about school after teacher conference.

Lauren being born, Mimi-tri, Mountain Adv. Camp
I'm going to type a way here for a bit and try and get some older things done. This won't flow but I'll have it recorded for myself.
In the beginning of August Lauren was using the toilet and I was sitting on the edge of the tub keeping her company. Out of nowhere she started a story that went like this "I was mad at you you split my face and put your belly on my face. You put your belly on my face and it split, and in my face was (me) What? Hot Sauce, no tomato sauce and I cried and cried. (me) Was this when you were born? Yes, I was mad at you" I typed this into my phone right after it happened. It's not unusual for children to remember being born, people just don't tend to ask about it. After all it only happened just over three years ago. She likes to talk about it and people get a kick out of hearing it for sure.
In August my good friends Melissa and Nicole organized a Mini-Triathlon. This was to help jump start some of us on the triathlon trail and to show us we can do it. We started in Waterbury Center and biked to the Res, swam 3/10 of a mile, then biked the Barnes Hill/Sweet Road loop (9 miles i think) to Melissa's house, then ran to the center and up and down Maple st (3 miles). I was very nervous but very happy that I did it, and didn't do too bad. I made it up Barnes Hill with out walking, although I took a few rests.
The boys Y camp ended in mid August and we had a week and half to fill up, so we did the Mountain Adventure Camp in Stowe and the boys loved it. We hope to do it again next year, the only downside is the drive and that it ends at 3:30. A bit early for working days.
Drew lost another tooth his 7th.

Pre-school
After Grandma and Grandpa left Lauren began the transition to pre-school. She started with a half-day and had such sucess she did a full day that same week. Ken and I are so happy with her school. There are some great little girls that Lauren will go to Kindegaraten with in a couple of years. It's very cute picking up anmd dropping her off, its a lot different then the boys were. Lots of hugs to the other girls, waves good bye, very sweet. She is going three days a week.
Laurens Big Girl Bed
As I mentioned earlier Grandpa Joe and helper Ken built Lauren a big girl bed during the Glasgows visit. Lauren is 100% in her bed (has been since late July) and she loves it. We have a bed rail in place. We had a couple early wake ups and Lauren getting out on her own but all in all very smooth transition. I can't believe how big she is, sniffle.
