Calvin turned 6 on the 18th. We had a big party for him on the 17th with over 20 friends and siblings. We hired a magician to help occupy the crowd and are very glad that we did, it was a big hit with the kids and adults. In lieu of presents the kids brought food for the local food shelf. Calvin had his well child check up on Monday and all is well. He is just over 50% for height and weight, his eyes, ears etc all checked out fine. Ken and I both took him to the appt, along with Lauren who needed a booster shot. We had a nice day the four of us, Costco and lunch. Drew was in pre-school. Calvin has been enjoying x-c country skiing with Dad, mom hasn't been out much, in the house with the little ones. We did take both Drew and Calvin to the Mountain (Stowe) this past weekend. The boys both rode the magic carpet (basically a moving sidewalk that brings the kids a little bit up the hill) and had fun skiing. It was Drew's first time on any skis, he didn't make it too far without falling but had fun trying. Calvin did great and was up and down many times and was figuring out how to stop all by himself. Both kids were quite devastated when it was time to go. Calvin is doing great at school and has gotten great feedback from his teacher. He continues to go to HMCC two days a week after Kindergarten.
HMCC is the pre-school/day care that Drew attends and Calvin attended for pre-school. Starting in June he will be finished with HMCC and will start the next 12 years of a standard school schedule of 5 days a week all day. Next fall Drew will continue going three days a week and be in his second year of pre-school. Lauren will remain with mom, presumably till the fall after she turns three, when we will consider starting her in pre-school.
We had our usual January thaw and haven't had any time skating on the pond. We are expecting much cooler weather (negative #s) in the next few days hopefully we can return to the pond soon.
Drew continues to have the occasional night time accident, it seems to come in waves. No problems for a couple of weeks then a couple nights in a row with accidents. Interestingly it doesn't seem to wake him up, we discover it in the morning, yuck.
Lauren is saying Dada now, for the past 3/4 days. For a few days Ken was convinced she was calling him papa but Dada is now becoming clear. She is eating cheerios as well as the Gerber puffs, she continues to nurse but is still polishing off 2/3 jars of baby food at each mealtime. Or the equivalent of yogurt and cereal. I am trying to get her some more floor time so she can work on rolling back to front and moving around a bit on her own.
